Bengaluru Metro Commuters Get Big Relief: Namma Metro Yellow Line Wait Time Cut to Just 7 Minutes During Peak

Thousands of Bengaluru commuters travelling between RV Road, Electronic City and Bommasandra can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has reduced the peak-hour frequency on the Namma Metro Yellow Line to just seven minutes from today, June 3.

Bengaluru has always seen traffic congestion, particularly along the Hosur Road and Electronic City stretches, where lakhs of IT employees and office-goers travel every day. The improved metro frequency is beneficial to a lot of people.

Impact on Commuters

Until recently, commuters on the Yellow Line had to wait longer between trains during rush hours. With the addition of more train sets, BMRCL has now managed to bring down the waiting time to seven minutes during peak periods, making travel faster. The metro service operates daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM and serves approximately 8 lakh commuters daily.

The 19.15-km Yellow Line connects RV Road to Bommasandra through 16 stations that already serves major areas including Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Hosa Road, and Electronic City, providing vital connectivity to major tech hubs like Infosys, Wipro, Biocon, and Tech Mahindra. With three interchange stations-RV Road (Green Line), Jayadeva Hospital (future Pink Line), and Central Silk Board (future Blue Line).

For office-goers travelling to Electronic City, the frequency improvement could mean shorter platform waits and more predictable commute times, especially during morning and evening rush hours.

Earlier this year, the frequency had already been improved from 10 minutes to 9 minutes during peak hours. BMRCL said that service frequency on the Yellow Line could improve even further as additional train sets are inducted into the network. Metro authorities have previously stated that train intervals may eventually be reduced to around five minutes once the full fleet becomes operational.

Bengaluru's Yellow Line was inaugurated on August 10, 2025, by PM Narendra Modi, and started operations on August 11, 2025.
