Bengaluru Metro Construction Causes Traffic Chaos In HSR Layout: Flyover Shutdown Disrupts Commuters

Bengaluru's HSR Layout is facing a major traffic hiccup as the flyover near the area has been closed due to ongoing metro construction by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). The closure has triggered significant traffic disruptions, particularly on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), making commuting a challenge for daily travelers.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on their X handler; the authorities informed commuters that the flyover had been shut down due to issues with the BMRCL sliding girdle tilt at 14th Main, HSR Layout. The advisory has urged travelers to consider alternative routes to avoid the buildup of traffic in the area. Specifically for those heading towards Silk Board, the route has been diverted via 19th Main.

Bengaluru Metro Construction Causes Traffic

Traffic Chaos In Causing Long Delays On Road

The sudden closure of the flyover has led to major congestion in the area, particularly around the HSR BDA Complex, where traffic jams have become a daily challenge. With vehicles moving at a snail's pace, many residents have expressed their frustration, including a daily commuter from HSR Layout.

A daily commuter shared her disappointment with the current situation. She said, "I live in HSR, and it took me 40 minutes to travel just 1.6 kilometers to my office. Everyone around here is stressed out. The peak-hour construction and road closures are making it impossible to get to work on time. Bengaluru's traffic is already infamous for its delays, and now, with this additional obstruction, it's just adding to the chaos."

Many other commuters are facing lengthy delays, and the congestion is so intense that it has started to affect local businesses, and those with urgent appointments are finding it challenging to move through the city.

Residents Urge BMRCL for Proper Planning and Timely Updates

Bangalore residents who are already frustrated by the road closure and traffic jam have expressed their disappointment time and again on Twitter, asking the BMRCL authorities to plan these constructions in advance or during the weekend, which will not affect the office goers. As the timing of these projects, especially during peak traffic hours, can have a significant impact on daily life.

Experts suggest better coordination between traffic management and construction teams, with clear and timely updates for daily travelers, will definitely minimize the disruption. In the meantime, Bengaluru residents are advised to remain patient and keep an eye out for alternative routes provided by the Bangalore traffic police.
