Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Approved: Chcek Route, Features, Launch Details

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has confirmed the approval of a new Vande Bharat Sleeper train between Bengaluru and Mumbai.

The confirmation came through an official communication via Ashwini Vaisnav, where the minister stated that the Vande Bharat Sleeper service between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) has been approved for public convenience.

The introduction of the Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train is expected to give a big boost to overnight travel between two of India's busiest economic hubs. Currently, passengers rely on conventional express trains or flights, but this new service will give a faster, more modern, and comfortable alternative.

Unlike the existing chair car versions, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train is specially designed for long-distance journeys with AC berths. It was designed to serve corridors that are roughly 800 km to 1,200 km apart.This is ideal for routes like Bengaluru to Mumbai, where travel time typically spans overnight.

Although the Bengaluru Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been approved, the exact launch date, timetable, ticket pricing, and stoppages are yet to be officially announced. Passengers can expect further updates from Indian Railways in the coming months.

Route Details: KSR Bengaluru to CSMT Mumbai

The proposed train will run between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, one of the busiest railway stations in India. This corridor connects major IT, business, and financial hubs.

The first Vande Bharat Sleeper service began on 17 January 2026 on the Howrah-Kamakhya (Guwahati) route. The trainset prototype had been rolled out earlier, in September 2024. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train has 16 coaches with a Capacity of 823 passengers
