Bengaluru's Metro network may soon see an expansion, with Tumakuru, Hoskote, Devanahalli and Bidadi to be added as destinations on the Namma Metro map.

The proposed Phase 4 of Bengaluru Metro is expected to add around 215 km to the Namma Metro network, which will connect suburban areas and the outskirts of the city.

However, the plan is still on paper, though. As reported by Moneycontrol, A senior BMRCL official has clarified that the Phase 4 routes are not finalised or approved.

In the upcoming Bengaluru Namma Metro Phase 4 Plan, the proposed corridors include Madavara to Tumakuru, Kadabagere to Tavarekere, Challaghatta to Bidadi and Silk Institute to Harohalli.

The list also has Kalena Agrahara-Jigani-Attibele-Sarjapur Road-Kadugodi Tree Park, with a branch to Anekal Cricket Stadium, along with Bommasandra-Attibele, KR Pura-Hoskote and Doddajala-Devanahalli.

Namma Metro ongoing projects

While Phase 4 is still a proposal, several other projects are currently at different stages of construction and approval.

Namma Metro Pink Line

The 21.25 km Pink Line, which runs from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, might be done very soon since the 7.5 km elevated section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is ready for passengers. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) completed a three-day inspection of the section on 9 October, and flagged some observations. No official opening date has been announced. It has 18 stations in total, 12 underground and 6 elevated.

Namma Metro Blue Line

The 58.19 km Blue Line, which connects Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport via KR Puram and Hebbal, has been delayed again. It was earlier expected to be fully operational by December 2027, but is now likely to be operational by March 2028. As per the current available data, the KR Puram to Nagawara section is expected by mid-2027, while Nagawara to Hebbal to the airport is expected around September or October 2027.

Phase 3: Orange Line

Phase 3 has received the Centre's approval and is in the tendering stage. The Union Cabinet approved it at Rs. 15,611 crore, covering 44.65 km and 31 stations. It has two corridors: JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura, which is about 32.15 km with 22 stations and Hosahalli to Kadabagere, which is about 12.5 km with 9 stations.

Phase 3A: Red Line

The Hebbal to Sarjapur Road line is also waiting for the Union Cabinet approval. It is estimated at Rs. 28,405 crore for 36.59 km and will be the most expensive line per km in Namma Metro's history. It is planned to become operational around 2038.
