Bengaluru Parking Rules 2026: Park Outside Your Home to Cost Up to Rs.25k/Year; Check New Fees, Rules & Fines

Parking a car on the road outside your house in Bangalore will soon become costlier. The Karnataka government has issued a draft Greater Bengaluru Area Parking Rules, 2026, proposing annual residential parking permits of up to Rs. 25,000 for vehicles parked on designated public roads.

Under the proposed Bengaluru parking fee rules, hatchback owners would have to pay Rs. 15000 a year, sedan owners Rs. 20000 and SUV owners Rs. 25000 for residential on-street parking.

The draft also proposes hourly charges for on-street parking on other roads, making paid parking in Bengaluru a much more structured system than it is today.

However, it is important to note that these are draft Bengaluru parking rules and not final rules yet.

The Urban Development Department issued the draft notification on August 11, and members of the public have 30 days from Gazette publication to submit objections and suggestions.

Bengaluru Parking Fee 2026: How Much Will Residents Have to Pay?

The proposed Bengaluru residential parking charges would vary according to the type of vehicle. This means an SUV owner parking on an eligible residential road could potentially have to spend Rs.25,000 every year just for the residential parking permit.

The proposed fees are higher than the residential parking permit rates suggested under Bengaluru's earlier Parking Policy 2.0. That earlier framework proposed annual permits of less than Rs.1,000 for small cars, Rs.3,000 to Rs.4,000 for medium cars and Rs. 5,000 for MUVs/SUVs.

Bengaluru New Parking Rules: Who Can Park on Residential Roads?

The proposed GBA Parking Rules 2026 seek to regulate parking on residential streets rather than allowing vehicles to occupy public road space without a permit. Under the new framework, residential parking on roads other than arterial and sub-arterial roads would be permitted through a residential parking permit system.

Off-Street Parking Could Be Cheaper

Interestingly, the proposed Bengaluru parking policy 2026 makes off-street parking comparatively cheaper than on-street parking. For cars, proposed off-street parking charges could range between Rs. 20 and Rs. 40 per hour, while two-wheelers could be charged between Rs. 10 and Rs. 20 per hour.
