Bengaluru Power Cut: BESCOM Issues Advisory Due Pre-Monsoon Rains; Heavy Rainfall Predicted In Karnataka

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has issued an advisory for citizens who facing electricity-related issues due to the pre-monsoon rains. The month of May started with intense rainfall and thunderstorms in the city, a huge relief from summer heat. However, the monsoons could also cause power disruption.

Bengaluru Power Cut:

In the early hours of May 3, citizens complained about power outages to BESCOM on X. Some of the locations that faced issues were Thimappa Reddy Layout, IDBI Layout, Abbaiyah Reddy Layout, and Neelsandra Rosegarden among others.

BESCOM replied to one of the citizen about interruption at its 66/11KV South City MUSS Incoming supply Failure. They are working to restore power supply.

While BESCOM has not carried any scheduled power outage due to work progress at power stations in the past few days. But the pre-monsoon rains can hinder various services including electricity.

Hence BESCOM issued an advisory.

Bengaluru Pre-Monsoon Rains:

The recent pre-monsoon weather in Bengaluru has been quite intense. Over the past few days, the city has experienced heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, which has brought much-needed relief from the summer heat and helped lower temperatures. However, the sudden weather has also caused problems in some areas, such as waterlogging and traffic jams. According to the India Meteorological Department, this is part of a larger pre-monsoon pattern affecting South Karnataka.

Bengaluru Weather Today:

For May 3, IMD expects light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, having gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chamarajanagara, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Kodagu, Hassan and Chikkamagaluru districts. Dry weather likely to prevail over remaining districts.

But IMD is predicting heavy rains and thunderstorms on May 4, The gusty wind will likely be 30-40 kmph, and to occur at one or two places over Kodagu, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara and Ramanagara districts. But light to Moderate rain/thundershowers with gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Bengaluru (Rural) and Bengaluru (Urban) districts. Dry weather likely to prevail over remaining districts.
