Why is there a power outage in Bengaluru on August 24?
BESCOM has earlier informed that the planned power outage is essential for safety and infrastructure improvements. Maintenance will be carried out on critical substations, overhead high-tension lines, and distribution feeders. Officials said the shutdown is unavoidable to enhance future reliability of the Bengaluru electricity supply. These Bengaluru power cuts will impact several IT hubs and industrial & residential layouts, which means residents and businesses have to make arrangements in advance.
How long will the Bengaluru power outage last?
While the scheduled BESCOM power cut is expected to last up to seven hours in some areas, BESCOM has assured that electricity supply will be restored earlier if maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule. However, residents should be prepared for possible delays depending on weather and technical factors.
Impact on Bengaluru residents and businesses
The Bengaluru BESCOM maintenance shutdown will affect thousands of households and offices. Whitefield and ITPL, being major IT corridors, could see disruptions to work-from-home schedules and industrial operations. Similarly, RR Nagar, Kengeri, and Kadugodi areas, known for dense residential layouts, are advised to store water and keep essential devices charged.
Bengaluru power cut: BESCOM issues advisory
BESCOM has issued a public notice urging residents and business owners in Bengaluru power cut-affected areas to charge their devices, ensure backup power for essential equipment, and reschedule activities that require continuous electricity. Hospitals, IT companies, and industries in Whitefield, ITPL, Peenya, and other hubs have also been advised to make alternate arrangements.
