Bengaluru Power Cut Today

BESCOM has not issued an official notification regarding power cuts in Bengaluru. However, multiple social media users raised complaints linked to a power cut in different localities of the state capital.

A Bengaluru resident complained of a power cut in Gandhi Bazar. "The outage started around 7 PM on April 10, and electricity still hasn't been restored. A short outage is understandable, but this one is not acceptable. Can we know the reason why and when it can be restored?" read a social media post by Sagar KC.

Responding to the concern, BESCOM assured that the power supply will be restored by 12 pm on Sunday. "As of now there is an interruption in 66/11KV National College MUSS F10 Feeder Trunk Cable Fault. Power supply will be restored @ 12:00 Hrs (Approximately)."
In another complaint regarding power cut in Koramangala 6th Block, BESCOm notified that power supply would be restored shortly.

"As of now there is an interruption in 66/11KV NGV MUSS F1 Feeder 250KVA Transformer LT Fuse Burnt Out. Power supply will be restored @ 12:00 Hrs (Approximately)."

Yelahanka Power Supply Affected Due To Iran-US War

Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) used to procure power from the Yelahanka Gas Power Plant at around Rs 8 per kWh. The plant primarily served as a backup facility during periods when electricity demand in the city exceeded the regular supply. However, the plant is now likely to remain shut due to ongoing gas supply outages, raising concerns about managing peak power demand in Bengaluru.

"This will not impact Bengaluru as its load would be met through other plants, including thermal and hydel plants, along with abundant renewable energy during summer months," TOI quoted an engineer. Goodreturns couldn't independently verify the development.

Gas supply to Yelahanka Gas Power Plant, the city's key gas-based power station, was halted following a new natural gas allocation order issued by the Government of India. The decision comes amid tightening global gas supplies linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, raising concerns about potential disruptions in power generation.
