Bengaluru Rain Today, August 20, 2026: Rain Forecast, Weather Update, IMD Alert and Expected Rainfall

Bengaluru weather today is likely to be under the influence of active monsoon conditions over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department and Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, rain and strong winds across several parts of karnataka.

The Karnataka weather forecast today shows that rain activity will continue across Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

The IMD has issued weather warnings from August 20th to August 24th, with thunderstorms, lightning, squally conditions and strong surface winds expected in parts of the state.

Karnataka Rain Alert Today: IMD Issues Thunderstorm Warning

According to the IMD Karnataka weather forecast, a lot of districts could experience thunderstorms and lightning along with strong surface winds during the five-day forecast.

Coastal Karnataka, which includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall at many places. Also,sustained winds of around 30-40 kmph are also expected.

Similar conditions are forecast for weather in the North Interior Karnataka where light to moderate rain with high speed winds of 30-40 kmph are likely.

As per KSNDMC, Bengaluru weather is expected to be generally cloudy with light to moderate rain in some areas and winds of around 30-40 kmph.

The maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature could be around 21 degrees Celsius.
Bengaluru recorded 3.1 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, while relative humidity stood at 85% at 8:30 am, according to IMD data.

Karnataka Monsoon Update

The Malnad region of Karnataka is also continuing to receive good rainfall, particularly across the ghat areas.
Districts including Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Hassan have recorded rainfall activity, with increased water levels being observed in some rivers and streams.

Despite the recent increase in rainfall activity, Karnataka's monsoon rainfall is still below normal for the season.

According to KSNDMC rainfall data through August 19, Karnataka has received around 431 mm of rainfall, compared with the normal rainfall of 623 mm for the period beginning June 1. This represents a 31% rainfall deficit.

Nevertheless, the monsoon activity in the state is likely to stay active over the coming days, particularly across Coastal Karnataka and parts of the interior areas.
