Bengaluru Rain Today: Thunderstorms, Lightning Likely in Some Areas; Check Karnataka Weather Forecast
Bengaluru is currently seeing another day of rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday, August 19, as cloudy conditions have returned to the city.
The latest IMD weather forecast shows a possibility of thunderstorms, while the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has issued a warning for South Interior Karnataka, which includes Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Weather Today: Thunderstorm, Lightning Warning
According to the KSNDMC warning issued on August 18, South Interior Karnataka is expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds from August 19 to August 22.
The India Meteorological Department has also forecast continued monsoon activity for Karnataka weather, with thunderstorms and rainfall expected in several areas.
Karnataka Monsoon Rainfall Deficit
Karnataka's overall monsoon rainfall this season has been below normal. According to the KSNDMC rainfall report dated August 19, the state received 431 mm of rainfall between June 1 and August 19, compared with the normal rainfall of 623 mm which is a 31% deficit.
The month of June was particularly weak, with Karnataka receiving 116 mm rainfall against the normal 199 mm, a deficit of 42%. July recorded 192 mm against the normal 271 mm, resulting in a 29% deficit. Rainfall improved somewhat in August, with 123 mm recorded between August 1 and 19 against the normal 152 mm, a deficit of 19%.
Karnataka weather Update
Since the monsoon has been weak in Karnataka, the rainfall volumes dropped in recent days, The IMD has forecast moderate rain in some pockets over South Interior Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and some parts of the coastal areas in the coming week, while cloudy skies are expected to stay across most of the state.
As per IMD data, the Hill town Madikeri in Kodagu will stay cooler, with temperatures ranging between 24°C and 21°C. Other places in the state, including the northern districts such as Ballari, Raichur, Yadgir, Vijayapura and Kalaburagi are expected to record the day's highest temperatures, touching the low 30s, while Chikkamagaluru may be the coolest at 23°C. Residents across the state can expect Karnataka weather to be cloudy with intermittent showers in the days ahead.
