Project Details and Scope

The contract entails the construction of an elevated viaduct spanning 8.960 km and an at-grade section of 37.920 km, excluding station buildings, between Heelalige and Rajanukunte. The project will be executed on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) mode, ensuring efficient project management and timely completion.

Additionally, the contract includes the construction of a unique double-decker alignment of 1.2 km length for BSRP Corridor-1 and Corridor-4 near Yelahanka. This innovative design will optimize land utilization and enhance operational efficiency. Furthermore, a BSRP elevated viaduct of 500 m length will be constructed below the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) viaduct near Benniganahalli, involving the sharing of right-of-way between BSRP and BMRCL. This collaboration represents a first-of-its-kind arrangement in India, showcasing the project's commitment to innovative solutions.

Progress and Future Plans

With the awarding of this contract, the total length of civil work elevated and at-grade for BSRP now stands at 72.08 km, representing approximately 50% of the project's total alignment. Previously, L&T was also awarded the contract for Corridor-2, stretching from Chillabanawara to Baiyappanahalli, covering a distance of 25.2 km. Construction activities for this section are currently in full swing.

The Karnataka government has prioritized Corridor 2 and 4 as the phase-1 priority corridors for the BSRP. To further expedite the project's progress, tenders for Corridor-1 and Corridor-3 will be invited shortly. Additionally, South Western Railways is in the advanced stages of handing over 115.5 acres of railway land to Corridor-4, which is expected to be completed soon.

The awarding of the contract for the elevated viaduct construction between Heelalige and Rajanukunte marks a significant milestone in the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project. With L&T's expertise and experience, the project is poised for successful completion, enhancing connectivity and transforming the transportation landscape of Bengaluru. The BSRP is a testament to the government's commitment to infrastructure development and its vision for a modern and efficient public transportation system.
