Bengaluru city is expected to see major traffic diversions, parking bans, and road closures on Sunday, August 10, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in the city to inaugurate the Namma Metro Yellow Line, launch Phase 3 of Bengaluru Metro, and flag off the Vande Bharat Express trains. The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has issued a detailed traffic advisory for motorists to avoid congestion on key stretches, including Hosur Road, Silk Board, Marenahalli Main Road, and Electronics City.
PM Modi's detailed Bengaluru visit schedule
As per the itinerary, PM Modi is expected to land at HAL Airport Bengaluru at 10:30 am. From there, he will travel via helicopter and road to KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station, where he will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains: the KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat, the Amritsar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat, and the Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Vande Bharat Express.

He will then proceed to Ragigudda Metro Station on the Namma Metro Yellow Line, boarding the metro to Electronics City Metro Station between 11:45 am and 12:50 pm. At IIIT Bengaluru, he will formally inaugurate the Yellow Line and lay the foundation stone for Namma Metro Phase 3 before returning to HAL Airport and flying to Delhi at 2:45 pm, as per a Deccan Herald report.
Road closure and parking restrictions on August 10
The Bengaluru Traffic Police has announced temporary traffic restrictions on several busy routes due to high-profile VVIP movement:
From 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., traffic will be restricted on Marenahalli Main Road between Rajalakshmi Junction and Marenahalli 18th Main Road, as well as from Marenahalli East End Main Road Junction to Aravind Junction.
Between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, closures will impact the Silk Board to Hosur stretch via the Electronics City Elevated Motorway and Hosur Road, as well as traffic coming from Hosur to Bengaluru. In Electronics City Phase 1, Infosys Avenue, Velankani Road, and HP Avenue Road will also be closed during this time.
Parking restrictions will be in place throughout the day on Marenahalli Main Road, 4th Main Road, and 18th Main Road.
Check alternative routes. Available for commuters
Bengaluru Traffic Police has suggested several alternate routes to avoid traffic jams in the city as reported by Deccan Herald:
Rajalakshmi Junction to Jayadeva Hospital Junction: Commuters can take Sarakki Market Road, pass through IG Circle, continue via RV Dental Junction, and reach their destination through 8th Main-9th Cross Road.
4th Main Road to Bannerghatta Road: Turn right at Rajalakshmi Junction, proceed on Sarakki Main Road, and connect via IG Circle and RV Dental Junction.
East End Circle to Banashankari: Use 29th Main Road, switch to 28th Main Road, head to Delmia Junction, follow the Outer Ring Road, and join at Sarakki Junction.
From HSR Layout, Koramangala, Bellandur, and Whitefield towards Hosur: Opt for Sarjapur Road via Chandapura to bypass congested stretches.
Within Electronics City Phase 1: Use 2nd Cross Road, Shikaripalya Road, Hulimangala Road, and Gollahalli Road for local movement.
From NICE Road to Hosur: Exit at Bannerghatta Junction, take Jigani Road, and connect to Hosur Road.
From Hosur Road towards Kanakapura, Mysuru, or Tumakuru Roads: Use Jigani Road from Bommasandra Junction to reach NICE Road via Bannerghatta Road.
Bengaluru traffic police advisory
The Bengaluru Traffic Police has asked residents to avoid affected stretches, follow real-time traffic updates, and make use of the alternate roads to prevent delays. The new Namma Metro Yellow Line inauguration will boost connectivity between Ragigudda, Electronics City, and other major areas and help in Bengaluru Metro expansion.
