Taking note of the problem, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has suggested two major infrastructure solutions, such as tunnel roads and triple-layered flyovers, that have the potential of tackling traffic problems in Bengaluru. However, Bengaluru is also focusing on an ambitious mega project called Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR), which is a 288 km expressway, connecting major highways and routes.
Nitin Gadkari's Bengaluru Traffic Solutions:
While speaking in a Raising Bharat Summit that was hosted by News18, Gadkari revealed that he suggested Karnataka CM about tunnel roads which could be a game changer for Bengaluru. He added, Bengaluru can explore adding to additional layers to existing flyovers, making it a multi-tier flyover.
His statement comes after he sought central approval for mega urban tunnel project that is focused upon easing Bengaluru's traffic congestions. The proposed tunnels are expected to link major national highways such as Ballari Road (NH-44), Tumakuru Road (NH-48), Hosur Road (NH-48/NH-75 via Electronics City), Old Madras Road (Old NH-4), and Mysuru Road (NH-275).

The project is divided into three phases. The first phase includes e 82-kilometre (51 mi) stretch between Dobbspet and Ramanagara and is expected to be completed in 3 years. Also, a 30-kilometre (19 mi) stretch between Dobbespet and Magadi under K-SHIP is developed.
The NHAI has divided the STRR project into three phases, said RK Suryawanshi, regional officer at NHAI, Bengaluru. The NHAI, he said, would take up Phase III ahead of Phase II. The second phase will be taken up next year. Another NHAI official said the 56-km Phase II has been kept on hold as it passes through the boundaries of eco-sensitive Bannerghatta National Park, as reported by Wikipedia.
