Bengaluru Traffic Alert: These Roads To Face Restrictions On September 8; Check Diversions, Parking

Commuters travelling through Shivajinagar and surrounding areas on September 8 should prepare for major traffic restrictions as the city is going to host the annual feast, flag-hoisting ceremony and procession of St Mary's Basilica.

According to the Bengaluru traffic advisory issued for the event, restrictions will be in force from 1 PM to 11 PM within the limits of the Shivajinagar Traffic Police Station. Many key stretches will either be completely closed to vehicles or see restrictions during the procession.
The annual feast at St Mary's Basilica culminates on September 8, with the church's official website noting that the main feast is celebrated on this day and a grand procession is held through Shivajinagar.

Bengaluru Traffic Advisory: These Roads Will Face Restrictions

Traffic movement will be affected across several important junctions and roads in Shivajinagar.

The advisory states that BMTC movement between Balekundri Circle and Jyothi Café Junction has already been restricted. During the procession, movement of all types of vehicles on this stretch will be completely restricted.

Other major restrictions include:

Shivaji Circle towards Jyothi Café Junction: All vehicles restricted.
BRV Junction to Select Junction: BMTC buses completely restricted.
Select Junction towards Jyothi Café Junction: Other vehicles restricted.
Bowring Hospital Junction to Select Junction: All vehicles restricted.
Quadrant Circle towards RMS Junction: All vehicles restricted.
Bamboo Bazaar towards Sunni Circle: All vehicles restricted.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place between 1 PM and 11 PM on September 8. Recent reports also confirm the same timing and key road restrictions announced for the St Mary's Basilica feast.

Bengaluru Traffic Diversions: Check Alternative Routes

The traffic police have laid out alternative routes for commuters to avoid the restricted stretches. As per the advisory, "BMTC buses coming from Queens Road and Vidhana Soudha towards Shivajinagar Bus Stand will proceed through Balekundri/Queens Road, take a left near Traffic Head Quarters Junction, continue through Infantry Road and then take a left near Central Street Junction before proceeding towards Shivajinagar Bus Stand."

"BMTC buses approaching Shivajinagar from Anil Kumble Junction will drop passengers after taking a left or right turn at BRV Junction and then return to their routes. Buses coming from the Manipal Junction side towards Shivajinagar Bus Station will drop passengers near BRV Junction, proceed straight, take a left near CTO Junction and return via MG Road.

Commercial Street And Pulakeshinagar Routes

Vehicles coming from the Commercial Street side can take a left turn near Bowring Hospital Junction, proceed straight and continue via Cubbon Road.
Vehicles travelling from Pulakeshinagar towards Shivajinagar should take a left at Quadrant Circle and proceed through D.K. Street.

Bengaluru Traffic: Parking Banned On These Roads

Parking will also be prohibited across several roads around the event area. The no-parking restrictions will cover:
