The Bengaluru traffic diversion has been put in place as the Karnataka Government is organising a grand Kempegowda Jayanti event at Kempegowda Layout near Kengeri, which is expected to witness a gathering of nearly 40,000 to 50,000 people. Several senior leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, are expected to attend the celebrations, prompting enhanced security and traffic management measures.
If you regularly commute through western Bengaluru, checking the latest Bengaluru traffic update, Bengaluru traffic restrictions, and alternative routes before leaving home could help you avoid long delays.
Bengaluru Traffic Restrictions on June 27
According to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, traffic restrictions will remain in force from 6 AM to 4 PM on Friday. Police personnel will be deployed across the affected areas to regulate traffic and assist commuters. Those travelling towards Kengeri, Mysore Road, Kommaghatta, and surrounding areas should expect slow-moving traffic during the event.
Roads Affected Due to Bengaluru Traffic Diversions
As part of the Bengaluru traffic advisory, diversions and restrictions will be enforced on several key roads around the event venue. These include Mysore Road, Kommaghatta Main Road, Kengeri Suburb, Magadi Main Road, and adjoining stretches around Kempegowda Layout. Traffic congestion is expected during the arrival and departure of dignitaries and participants.
Goods Vehicle Restrictions
The Bengaluru Traffic Police has also imposed restrictions on goods vehicles to ease congestion. Goods vehicles will not be allowed between Marigold School Junction on Mysore Road and Bheemanakuppe Junction. Similarly, movement will be restricted between Kommaghatta Junction (Kengeri Club) and Hosakere Village Junction throughout the restriction period.
Alternative Routes Suggested by Bengaluru Traffic Police
To minimise inconvenience, authorities have announced alternative routes for commercial vehicles. Goods vehicles travelling from Mysore Road have been advised to proceed towards Challagatta Metro Station via Mysore Main Road and Sumanahalli Road. Vehicles heading towards the Referral Road side should use the Visvesvaraya Layout Ring Road through Ullal, avoiding the restricted corridors.
Advisory for Bengaluru Commuters
Since thousands of people are expected to attend the celebrations, commuters are advised to leave early, follow the Bengaluru traffic update issued by the traffic police, use navigation apps for real-time diversions, and consider travelling by Namma Metro wherever possible.
