Bengaluru Weather: IMD Issues Heavy Rain & Thunderstorm Warning Till November 5; Check Karnataka Weather Today
Bengaluru is set for a wet start to November, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for heavy rain, thunderstorm, lightning and squalls over South Interior Karnataka from November 3 to November 5. The yellow category means residents should stay aware of changing conditions.

According to IMD's sub-division-wise warnings issued on November 3, the alert covers all three days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Coastal Karnataka is under the same warning. North Interior Karnataka has only a thunderstorm and lightning alert for the same period, with no heavy rain flagged. From November 6 to November 9, IMD shows no warning for any of the three sub-divisions.
The weather department says mostly cloudy skies will be seen across Karnataka with occasional sunshine. Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places across the state, while scattered showers are expected over the south interior and coastal regions between November 3 and November 5, with heavy rain possible at isolated spots. IMD has also said cold and fog are likely in many parts of the state during the night and morning hours, so early commuters may find visibility reduced.
In the city itself, the day began cloudy, with the temperature around 23°C. Forecast models put the maximum for Tuesday at about 28°C and the minimum near 20°C, with a 35% chance of rain. Wednesday looks similar, with a high of about 28°C, a low of around 20°C and the same 35% chance of rain. The chance of rain eases to 15% on Thursday, even though the IMD warning is in force through that day, which suggests that the heavy spells are likely to be patchy and localised, not citywide.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast for this weekend
The weekend looks largely dry. Rain chances stay between 15% and 20% from Friday to Sunday, with daytime temperatures easing from about 28°C to 26°C. Nights turn a little cooler, with the minimum dipping to nearly 19°C by Monday, November 9 and around 18°C by November 10, when the chance of rain falls to just 5%.
For Bengaluru, the usual cautions apply on rain days. Waterlogging at low-lying stretches and underpasses, slow-moving traffic during evening peak hours and poor visibility in the early morning fog are the main concerns. Commuters are advised to keep an eye on updates from IMD and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) and to plan travel around the showers.
