Bengaluru Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Heavy Downpour, Karnataka To Face 6 Days of Intense Rain

IMD has issued a fresh rain alert for Bengaluru and several districts across Karnataka, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is in place over the next few days as monsoon activity rising sharply across the state.

According to the latest Bengaluru weather forecast, the residents of the city can expect a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain or thundershowers at times, along with strong winds reaching 30-40 kmph in some areas. The IMD has also placed large parts of Karnataka under Yellow and Orange Alerts, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall and weather-related disruptions.

Bengaluru Weather Ahead Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected

Residents of Bengaluru should prepare for wet weather conditions as the IMD has predicted heavy rain and thundershowers in some areas
The weather department has also advised commuters to stay cautious during peak rainfall hours, as localized waterlogging, traffic congestion, and reduced visibility may occur in low-lying areas of the city.

With the southwest monsoon now getting prominent, Bengaluru rain forecast shows that intermittent rainfall is likely to continue through the week.

Karnataka Rain Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Alert

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for multiple regions of Karnataka due to the possibility of heavy rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.4 mm at isolated locations.

Regions under Yellow Alert include Coastal Karnataka, Malenadu and South Interior Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka where Heavy rain is likely from June 3 to June 8.

Orange Alert Issued for Heavy to Very Heavy Rain

The weather department has also issued an Orange Alert for specific dates when rainfall intensity is expected to increase further.

Under the Orange Alert, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall from 64.5 mm to 115.4 mm and very heavy rainfall from 115.5 mm to 204.4 mm
Areas under Orange Alert include Coastal Karnataka from June 3, June 8, and June 9. Malenadu and South Interior Karnataka on June 8 and June 9.

Several northern districts, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal, and Haveri, remain under alert due to expected thunderstorms and rainfall activity.

Meanwhile, districts including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi are likely to experience persistent rainfall and thunderstorm activity.
