Bengaluru Weather: The IPL is making a comeback with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, May 17. The fans of Virat Kohli, who recently announced his test retirement, wish to see their favourite perform at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, the current weather update in Bengaluru is filled with predictions of heavy rains and thunderstorms. There have been a few splashes here and there since the morning of Saturday.
Bengaluru Weather Update:
Skymet Weather has predicted heavy rains over Bengaluru till mid-week next week. It said Bengaluru and surrounding areas are set to experience continued pre-monsoon activity including spells of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
Meanwhile, MET Centre Bengaluru has predicted heavy rain /Thundershowers with Gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Kolar, Ballari, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru districts on May 17.
The situation is expected to continue on May 18, May 19, and May 20. The weather will calm slightly on May 21 with moderate rain prediction at a few places over Ballari, Bengaluru (Rural), and Bengaluru (Urban).
Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru Weather:
Currently, it is raining at the stadium with a temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. The precipitation is 45%, while humidity at 95% and wind is between 8-10 km/h. It is expected to rain in the evening during the RCB vs KKR match hours, with temperature dropping to 23 degrees between 8 PM to 11 PM and further lower to 22 degrees till 2 AM.
As of now, the prediction is that there are 71% chance of rain after 7 pm.
According to the World Weather Online Report, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, India weather forecasted for the next 10 days will have a maximum temperature of 30°c / 86°f on Saturday, May 17. The minimum temperature will be 21°c / 69°f on Saturday, May 24. Most precipitation falling will be 54.92 mm / 2.16 inch on Sunday, May 18. Windiest day is expected to see wind of up to 42 kmph / 26 mph on Tuesday, May 27.

The match is expected to start at 7:30 PM on May 17. This will be the first match of IPL after a nine-long break due to geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. BCCI had suspended the match since Operation Sindoor, while a total of 32 airports were shut down due to national security. Many IPL players had headed back home, and their return was delayed for IPL matches due to the cross-border drone and missile exchange between India and Pakistan. However, both India and Pakistan have announced a ceasefire agreement from May 10th onward, and business is resuming as normal.
