Bengaluru Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka for the upcoming weekend. After enduring intense summer heat, Bangalore residents finally breathed a sigh relief when heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Friday evening which brought down soaring temperatures.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Rain to Continue Over the Weekend
According to the latest Bangalore weather update, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Karnataka are expected to continue over the next few days. The IMD has predicted that Bangalore rains will intensify, with chances of showers every day through May 6. The forecast suggests a prolonged wet spell, providing a break from the persistent heatwave conditions.
According to a joint report by IMD Bengaluru and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the state, which faced a rainfall deficit until March 30, witnessed a sharp turnaround. By April 30, Karnataka had recorded 50% excess rainfall, largely due to the unseasonal pre-monsoon showers

Cyclonic Circulation Over Bay of Bengal Likely to Intensify Rain
The IMD has also reported a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, which is moving westward toward Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. This system is expected to result in widespread rain in Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru Urban & Rural, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Tumkur, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Bellary, Chitradurga, Mandya.
This weather system could lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas and minor traffic disruptions, especially in Bengaluru city, known for its vulnerable infrastructure during heavy rains.
Day-Wise Bangalore Weather Forecast (May 3-7)
Today the minimum temperature was 21°C, maximum at 33°C. Thunderstorms and showers expected by evening.
From May 3 to May 7, Bengaluru is expected to experience a mix of rain and cloudy skies, as per the IMD forecast. On May 2 and May 3, rain or thundershowers are likely during the afternoon or evening, offering relief from the recent summer heat. The pattern continues on May 4 and May 5 with partly cloudy skies and one or two spells of rain or thunder likely. Rainfall intensifies on May 6, with showers expected throughout the day. By May 7, the weather is predicted to be partly cloudy. Temperatures will consistently range between a minimum of 21°C and a maximum of 33-34°C during this period.
