IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Karnataka This Week

Many interior parts of Karnataka and Bengaluru witnessed rainfall over the last two to three days. The sudden change in temperature and weather was due to lower freezing heights in the atmosphere and the interplay of two anticyclone systems over the state and temperature conditions.

Rainfall alongwith hailstorms is generally a rare phenomenon for Bengaluru in March. The metro city often sees harsh summer like weather in the month. As per the IMD data, the city didn't witness any hailstorm in the March month over the past twenty years. As per the data, hailstorms in Bengaluru is generally reported in April and May. IMD Issues Heavy To Very Heavy Rainfall in Many Indian States

The weather forecasting agency has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several Indian states for March 20. As per the IMD report, there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall spell over northeast India during the week due to persistence of a cyclonic circulation in lower tropospheric levels, and strong southwesterly/southerly moisture convergence from Bay of Bengal over the region.

There will be episodes of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh on 12th, 14th, 18th March, North Interior Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu on 18th March and next few days.
