Bengaluru Weather Update: Traffic in the silicon city, Bengaluru, is likely to take a hit on Friday till the weekend, as IMD predicted light to moderate showers till April 7th. The Karnataka capital faced water logging and traffic jams throughout due to heavy spells on Thursday, and the situation is not likely to ease.

Bengaluru Traffic:

As per TomTom data that tracks live traffic in Bengaluru, the travel time per 10 Km in Bengaluru is currently 2 min 20 above what's usual at this time. Meanwhile, there is a 52% congestion level, which is 10% above what's usual at this time. Further, the speed rate of vehicles is 16.7 km/h, which is 1.2 km/h below what's usual at this time. In total, there are about 81 total traffic jams with 34.7 km total length.

Bengaluru Weather Update

On Thursday, due to heavy shows, many regions of Bengaluru were flooded such as Veerasandra Junction, Hosur Road; Anil Kumble Circle, MG Road; Cauvery underpass; Panathur railway underbridge; Sony World Signal; HAL Airport Road; and 29th Main Road, Madiwala, towards Silk Board.

The fares of taxis and autorickshaws also shot up due to the water logging and heavy traffic on Thursday. Ola and Uber fares were also impacted.

IMD said that widespread rain is likely to occur over South Interior Karnataka. Isolated Heavy rain/thundershowers with gusty wind of 30-40 kmph likely to occur over Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Tumkuru, Chitradurga, Vijayanagara and Bellari districts. Moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur in most places over Bengaluru Rural and Bengaluru Urban districts. Moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur in most places over Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Kolar and Chikkaballapura districts. Light to moderate rain with gusty wind of 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at most places of Kodagu district. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over the remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka."

On April 4th, fairly widespread rain is likely to occur over South Interior Karnataka. Isolated Heavy rain/thundershowers with gusty wind of 30-40 kmph.

For the next 24 hours, MET Centre Bengaluru predicted a generally cloudy sky. Moderate rain with gusty wind of 30-40 kmph is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum & Minimum temperatures very likely to be around 29°C and 20°C respectively.

For the next 48 hours, MET expected generally cloudy sky. Moderate rain with gusty wind of 30-40 kmph is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum & Minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 29°C and 20°C respectively.

Bengaluru Weather Update On April 7:

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Tumkur, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chikkaballapura and Kolar districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka, as per MET.
