BHIM 3.0 Unveiled by NPCI: Digital Payments Now In 15+ Languages & More; Check Out the Latest Features

Digital payments in India are evolving once again! NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has introduced BHIM 3.0 on Tuesday, March 25, the latest version of the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app. This is the third major upgrade since it was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, bringing a lot of new features which will make digital transactions smoother, safer, and more efficient.

Over the years, BHIM has played a major role in promoting cashless transactions in India. With BHIM 3.0, users will experience an even more refined and feature-rich platform, helping individuals, families, and businesses manage their payments effortlessly. The rollout of BHIM 3.0 will happen in phases, and full availability is expected by April 2025.

What's New in BHIM 3.0?

The latest version comes packed with enhancements that focus on convenience and security.

BHIM3.0 Supports 15+ Indian Languages - Now, users across the country can use the app to transact in their preferred language, making digital payments more inclusive. The new security updates ensure safer transactions, protecting users from fraud and unauthorised activities.

New Features For Everyday Users:

Split Bills Easily - Whether it's rent, dining, or group shopping, users can now split expenses instantly with friends and family for hassle-free payments.

The new Bim 3.0 comes with a family mode where managing household finances will become easier. Users can onboard family members, track shared payments, and assign transactions.

The newly designed dashboard provides a detailed view of monthly expenses, automatically categorising transactions to help users manage their spending.

The update also features Timely Payment Reminders, where the app sends timely alerts for pending bills, UPI Lite activation, and low Lite balances, keeping users on top of their payments.

Features enabled for businesses:

Businesses can now accept payments directly within the app with BHIM Vega, eliminating the need for third-party platforms. This makes transactions smoother and enhances customer convenience.

Customers can complete payments quickly without switching between multiple apps, making online shopping and business transactions effortless.

At the launch event, Ajay Kumar Choudhary, Non-Executive Chairman, NPCI, said that BHIM 3.0 is a big step toward a more inclusive and digital-first economy. Lalitha Nataraj, CEO of NBSL, stressed the app's focus on safety, convenience, and financial empowerment for all users, from individuals to businesses.
