However, on August 19, both categories saw a minor dip, 24K gold dropped by Rs 43 to Rs 10,075, and 22K gold fell by Rs 40 to Rs 9,235 per gram.

24 Karat Gold Rate in Chennai Today

The price of 24 karat gold in Chennai saw a noticeable dip today. The rate for 1 gram of 24K gold is now Rs 10,075, down by Rs 43 from yesterday's price of Rs 10,118. For 10 grams, the price stands at Rs 1,00,750, reflecting a decline of Rs 430. In bulk quantities, 100 grams of 24K gold is now priced at Rs 10,07,500, a reduction of Rs 4,300 from the previous day.

22 Karat Gold Rate Today in Chennai

On August 19, 2025, the rate for 1 gram of 22K gold dropped by Rs 40, now priced at Rs 9,235, down from Rs 9,275 the previous day. This downward trend extended to larger quantities as well 10 grams of 22K gold is currently available at Rs 92,350, reflecting a reduction of Rs 400.

For bulk buyers or investors, 100 grams of 22K is now priced at Rs 9,23,500, showing a significant drop of Rs 4,000 from yesterday's rate of Rs 9,27,500.

Chennai Gold Rate Today: 18 Karat Gold Prices on 19 August

Likewise, 18 karat gold, which is often preferred for lightweight and fashion jewellery, also saw a mild correction in prices today. The rate for 1 gram of 18K gold is Rs 7,635, which is Rs 35 less than the previous day's price of Rs 7,670.

The price of 10 grams of 18K in the capital city of Tamil Nadu has decreased by Rs 350, now standing at Rs 76,350. For those purchasing in bulk, the cost of 100 grams has come down by Rs 3,500, now available at Rs 7,63,500, compared to Rs 7,67,000 a day earlier.

Drop in Silver Rate Today in Chennai

Along with the yellow metal, silver prices in Chennai saw a marginal decline across all weight categories. The price for 1 gram of silver is Rs 126, down by Rs 1 from yesterday's Rs 127. Similarly, 8 grams of silver is priced at Rs 1,008, reflecting a decrease of Rs 8. For 10 grams, the rate has dropped by Rs 10, bringing the price to Rs 1,260.

Larger quantities followed the same trend, 100 grams of silver is now available at Rs 12,600, lower by Rs 100 from the previous day's rate. Meanwhile, the price for 1 kilogram (1,000 grams) has decreased by Rs 1,000, now standing at Rs 1,26,000, compared to Rs 1,27,000 on August 18.
