BIG NEET UG 2026 Update: NTA Extends Deadline; Candidates Can Update Bank Details for Refund Till This Date

NEET UG 2026 Update: Lakhs of participants who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 can now update their bank details for the NEET refund until Tuesday, July 7, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced. The NTA has begun refund process related to NEET exam fee and has also extended the deadline to update bank account details for fee refund. According to NTA's social media post, refunds have already started for candidates who confirmed their bank account details.

NEET Refund Initiated

The refund process related to NEET exam fees has been initiated and only 8 lakh 29 thousand 510 candidates have updated their bank account details. The refund process is carried out after the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination held on 3rd May this year over allegations of question paper leak.

"Refunds have already started for candidates who have confirmed their bank account details. If your details need to be updated, you can do so until 𝟳 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on the official NTA portal," read NTA's social media post on X.

Students who have successfully uploaded their bank details and haven't received the refund yet will be included in the next round of the refund process. The NTA warned that students are at risk of losing their refund if they didn't upload their bank details on time. The NTA has also urged candidates to cross-check their bank details before the deadline so that they can make timely corrections.

Re-NEET Exam Result

The Re-NEET exam results are expected by July 20. Earlier, NTA had confirmed that the results for the entrance test will be announced by July 20, as per an India Today report. The revised schedule will not affect the medical admission calendar. Re-NEET was held on June 21 after the original 3 May NEET UG exam was cancelled following con cerns of NEET paper leak. More than 20 lakh students had appeared for the NEET 2026 examination and suffered due to the exam cancellation.

The NTA released the provisional answer key on June 25 and allowed candidates to challenge answers until June 28.

NEET Fee Refund Details

NEET UG 2026 was originally held on May 3, 2026, when more than 22 lakh aspirants appeared for the national entrance test. Soon after the exam was held, the question paper leak surfaced, and the NTA cancelled the NEET UG 2026. The centre decided to conduct RE-NEET on June 21, 2026. More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for Re-NEET on June 21. Later, the government committed to refund the full examination fee to everyone who had registered. There was no additional fee charged for the re-exam.

How To Update Bank Account Details For NEET UG 2026 Refund?

-Visit the official NTA website, ie neet.nta.nic.in
-Click on the link 'Final Opportunity'. Confirm or update your bank account details for NEET (UG) 2026 Refund on home page.

-Now, login using your credentials.
-Complete the mandatory two-factor authentication.
-Open the 'Bank Account Details Confirmation/Updation'
-Now check all the bank account details including account holder name, account number, IFSC code, etc.
-Submit the details and take a screenshot of the confirmation page.
