Gold rates in Chennai saw the biggest crash of March 24, 2026, compared to other cities. For instance, although gold rates continued to fall, the decline was up to Rs 29,400 on Tuesday in cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kerala and others. But in Chennai, the steepest decline was up to Rs 37,100 on March 24. The overall stance of precious metals remains globally weak.

24 carat gold rates fell by Rs 3,710 to Rs 1,41,820 per 10 grams. While 100 grams gold price nosedived by Rs 37,100 to Rs 14,18,200 which is the most fall compared to others. 8 grams gold rate has plunged by Rs 2,968 to Rs 1,13,456 and 1 gram gold is down by Rs 371 to Rs 14,182.

Gold Rates In India Continue To Crash Today:

Gold rates in India have dropped up to Rs 29,400 in 100 grams of 24 carat to Rs 14,03,500. The 10 grams gold rate of 24 carat stood at Rs 1,40,350, down by Rs 2,940.

Similarly, 22 carat and 18 carat gold prices plunged by Rs 2,700 and Rs 2,210 to Rs 1,28,650 and Rs 1,05,260 per 10 grams.

Despite the steepest decline, gold rates in Chennai has fell by 17.6% in March so far, slightly slower compared to the nearly 19% decline in overall India.

What Should Investors Do In Gold Ahead?

"Today's lows near ₹1,30,000 for gold and ₹2,00,000 for silver are emerging as strong technical support zones, backed by oversold conditions and short-covering. While volatility will remain high, these levels are unlikely to break decisively in the near term unless there is fresh macro or geopolitical escalation," Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions said.

He further added that the rebound is more positioning-driven than fundamental, but it indicates that the worst of the liquidation phase may be behind us in the short term.
