The Bihar government is dedicated to nurturing a thriving startup environment, aiming to assist young entrepreneurs in establishing their ventures throughout the state. Industries Minister Nitish Mishra emphasised this commitment during a seminar named Avinya Bihar 2025, organised by the Industries Department and Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) on National Startup Day.

According to Mishra, the establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Centers and Startup Cells will simplify business operations across Bihar. "We aspire for startups to thrive and flourish in every corner of Bihar," he stated. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary of the Industries Department, highlighted that startups are a governmental priority, with aspirations to transform Bihar into a startup funding hub.
Startup Ecosystem and Support
The Avinya Bihar 2025 event was designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Supported by organisations like Startup Bihar, CIMP-BIIF, TiE Patna, and B-HUB Maurya Lok, this state-level programme spanned all 38 districts of Bihar in three sessions. The event spotlighted the dynamic startup ecosystem in Bihar, showcasing entrepreneurs' success stories and their contributions to the state's growth.
Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, Director of Handloom & Silk and CIMP's Director Prof Dr Rana Singh were among the attendees. Nippanikar stressed the significance of promoting local innovations and sustainable ideas while encouraging entrepreneurship at the state level. He noted that with government backing through seed funding, post-seed funding, startup cells, and incubation centres, Bihar startups have the potential to excel nationally.
Financial Support for Startups
A portal named startupbihar.in was launched during the event to provide entrepreneurs with easy access to resources and information. A film highlighting the notable achievements of startups in Bihar was also screened. The state's startup ecosystem is advancing swiftly, with 900 registered startups, including 139 led by women.
Bihar has distributed Rs 52.67 crore in support through seed funding, matching funds, post-seed funding, and additional assistance for women and SC/ST enterprises. At the event, selected startups received seed funds up to Rs 6 lakh and post-seed funds up to Rs 15 lakh.
The enthusiasm among Bihar's youth inspires hope that thousands of startups will emerge in the coming years. Preyashi added that they are prepared to support these ventures in every possible way. The event underscored the rapidly evolving startup ecosystem in Bihar and its potential for significant contributions to development.
