The tragic incident occurred at around 4 p.m. when a MEMU passenger train travelling from Gevra collided with a stationary goods train between Gatora and Bilaspur stations.

As per initial reports, 11 passengers have been confirmed dead, while dozens sustained injuries of varying severity. Rescue teams, along with local administration and railway officials, rushed to the site to carry out evacuation and medical assistance. Many of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals in Bilaspur for urgent treatment.
