BoB Customers Can Now Get Banking Transactions Details In Their Preferred Language

Bank of Baroda (BoB), a leading public sector lender, has introduced a new service for its customers that makes banking transaction-related information available in their preferred language. On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, which comes on February 21st, the bank has announced this facility as part of a three-day SMS Login Day at its branches. Customers who subscribe to the service will be able to get text messages/ SMSes in their preferred or chosen language.

BoB Customers Can Now Get Transactions Details In Their Preferred Language

Customers can use this service by sending an SMS to 8422009988 from their registered mobile number by typing LANG [space] and the first three letters of the preferred language. Customers who wish to get banking transaction details in Hindi, for example, should type LANG [space] HIN and send it to the above-mentioned phone number.

According to the bank, customers can replace HIN for other languages as follows - TAM (Tamil), KAN (Kannada), ASM (Assamese), BEN (Bangla), GUJ (Gujarati), MAL (Malayalam), MAR (Marathi), ORI (Oriya), PAN (Punjabi) ), TEL (Telugu), URD (Urdu).

Bank of Baroda has organised SMS Login Day across the country on the 18th, 19th, and 21st of February 2022 to promote this effort among its customers. In addition to English, Bank of Baroda currently provides this SMS service to its customers in 12 Indian languages.

According to Bank of Baroda, this initiative not only aims to make banking services simple and transparent for customers but also helps in preventing fraud by keeping customers informed about the banking transactions in their account(s).

Meanwhile, the bank has also announced that it would enable the instant digital establishment of Savings Accounts for Self Help Groups (SHG) using tablets (bob World - Tabit), which will be an industry first. The bank has streamlined its SHG on-boarding procedure with SHG account opening using BoB World - Tabit, enabling instant account opening by Self Help Groups in a more smoother and convenient way. This effort would also make it easier for SHGs to get loans, hence assisting the Government of India's aim [under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM)]. On behalf of this initiative Shri. Akhil Handa, Chief Digital Officer, Bank of Baroda said, "Bank of Baroda has been consistently working towards providing novel digital offerings to enhance customer experience and facilitate convenient banking facilities. In line with this vision, the launch of the instant SHG Savings Account opening through bob World - Tabit is one more earnest step towards providing easy banking services to SHGs, which shall fuel credit linkages and support the upliftment of rural customers. Going forward, we expect to open around 75% of the total SHG accounts digitally."
