Bomb Threat on Akasa Air Flight Triggers Emergency Response at Gorakhpur Airport

A bomb threat on an Akasa Air flight at Gorakhpur Airport on Thursday led to a brief panic. Officials confirmed the warning was false after thorough searches. The threat was received at 14:12, just before flight QPP 1880 from Bengaluru landed. Security teams quickly inspected the aircraft and passengers, but no suspicious items were found, according to Airport Director R K Parasher.

Flight Delays and Security Measures

The incident caused a 30-minute delay for Indigo flight 6319 to Hyderabad. The Akasa Air flight, scheduled to depart for Delhi, was delayed by around four hours. Despite these disruptions, all other flights continued as planned, Parasher added. This event is part of a series of hoax threats affecting airports across India, including Uttar Pradesh.

On Wednesday, Kanpur Police registered an FIR following a complaint by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The CISF guards the city's airport in the Chakeri area. They reported receiving two threatening emails on October 4 and October 6, said K S Rathod, assistant commandant at Chakeri airport.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East Shrawan Kumar Singh stated that an FIR was filed based on the CISF's application. Chakeri Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. These incidents have raised concerns among civil aviation stakeholders about security threats in the region.

The recent spate of false alarms has put authorities on high alert. They are working to ensure passenger safety while maintaining regular flight operations. Enhanced security protocols are being implemented to prevent future disruptions and safeguard air travel across the country.
