BSE Sensex Hits 62,000 Mark, Nifty Hits Fresh 52-Week High, Rupee Declines Sharply
BSE Sensex touched the 62,000 mark and NSE Nifty50 surged to 52-week high of 18,438 on Wednesday in morning trade. The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 62,0002 with a gain of 129 points (11:31 am) and Nifty 50 is presently trading at 18,429 with a surge of 26 points.
Meanwhile, Nifty Bank is trading at 42,529 with a gain of 156 points. The top gainers of the day are Kotak Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Dr Reddys Labs, Wipro, and TCS. These stocks have gained over 1% in morning trade. Top losers are Hindalco, JSW Steel, Divis Labs, Apollo Hospital, and Tata Steel. All these stocks have shed over 1%.
Rupee witnessed sharp decline against US Dollar. Rupee opened at 81.38, with a decline of 0.35% or 28 paise. Earlier, it closed at 81.10 on Tuesday. In morning trade today, Rupee further fell 0.56% to 81.56. Earlier this year in October, it touched the record low of 83.29 on Oct 20, 2022, according to a Bloomberg report.
Earlier, Rupee appreciated by 17 paise to close at 81.11 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, on positive domestic macroeconomic data and weak American currency, according to a PTI report.
