BSE Sensex, Nifty Open Lower Ahead Of Key RBI MPC Announcement

Benchmark BSE Sensex declined 62 points to 59,626.74 and NSE Nifty fell 17 points to 17,539 in morning trade on Thursday ahead of key RBI MPC announcement.

Asian stocks and U.S. equity futures sank on Thursday while bonds and the safe-haven U.S. dollar and Japanese yen were bid as mounting evidence of a U.S. slowdown fuelled worries for a global recession, according to Reuters.

Investors were inclined to take money off the table after recent strong gains, and with many global markets off on Good Friday, when potentially pivotal U.S. monthly payrolls data is due, added the Reuters report.

Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of India is expected to declare hike in benchmark interest rate-repo rate-on Thursday after the three-day meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee.
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das is likely to declare outcome of the meetings at 10 am on Thursday, followed by a press conference at noon.
