BSNL Reports Rs 280 Crore Q4 Profit; First Turnaround in 17 Years, Announces Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

BSNL Q4 Results 2025: Country's largest telecom service providers Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has recorded a net profit of Rs 280 crore in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2024-25 (Q4 FY25), marking its second consecutive profitable quarter following a Rs 262 crore profit in Q3 FY25. This represents a significant financial turnaround for the state-owned telecom operator, which has reduced its annual losses by 58%, from Rs 5,370 crore last year to Rs 2,247 crore in FY25.

The Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, credited this remarkable recovery to the visionary and reform-driven leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described the company's sustained profitability as a clear reflection of focused governance and strategic reforms implemented under the current administration.

Speaking on the announcement, Minister Scindia emphasised BSNL's consistent growth trajectory, stating that the company's performance represents "sustainable and consistent profitable growth" following the net profit reported in the third quarter of FY25.

Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the milestone, "BSNL delivers first back-to-back quarter profits in 17 years! Continuing on its profitable path, BSNL has posted a strong net profit of Rs 280 crores in Jan-March quarter of FY25, marking back-to-back profitable quarters after Rs 261 crores in FY25 Q3."

BSNL Revenue and EBITDA For FY2025

In addition to the profit figures, BSNL reported a record Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) of Rs 5,396 crore in FY25 - a 149% increase compared with the previous year. The company's operational efficiency was further demonstrated by 27 telecom circles turning EBITDA-positive and 10 circles achieving Profit After Tax (PAT) positivity.

BSNL Revenue 2025: Revenues for FY25 rose to Rs 20,841 crore, driven by strong performances across multiple segments including mobility services, Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH), leased lines, and a notable 77% increase in asset monetisation.

Capital expenditure also reached a historic high, with BSNL investing Rs 26,022 crore in FY25, prioritising the rollout of 4G services and the expansion of fibre infrastructure across the country.

"The sharp turnaround is testimony to professional management, government support and relentless focus on both the top line and the bottom line. BSNL is not just being revived, but redefined," BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A Robert J Ravi said.
