Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, stated in her budget address that chips-based E-passports will be implemented in 2022-23. She stated that E-passports, as well as the issuing of E passports employing embedded ship and futuristic technology, will be implemented in 2022-23 to improve peoples' convenience when traveling abroad. These e-passports will only take a few seconds to verify, according to the finance minister. The model was put to the test at a government-approved laboratory in the United States. They are likely to have thicker front and back covers, as well as a tiny silicon chip on the back cover. The chip will have a memory capacity of 64 kilobytes. The chip will save the holder's photos and fingerprints and will have a storage capacity of 30 visits.
