Budget 2022: Tax Exemptions For The Stat-Ups In India Announced

In the Union Budget 2022, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the startup tax holiday program will be extended to companies incorporated till March 31, 2023, in addition to the firms that were previously qualified for the exemption. Until recently, the tax break was only accessible to newly formed businesses until March 2022. The FM announced a one-year extension of the startup tax holiday scheme last year.

The FM also recommended extending the capital gains tax exemption for start-up investments for another year, until March 31, 2023.

Startups

The extending of the tax vacation was one of the most popular proposals from the startup community in the run-up to this year's Budget. This is especially crucial because, for the first time in six years, the number of new companies grew in 2021.

Startups in the India welcomed this move and said extending the startup tax holiday would be a great opportunity for the government to demonstrate its commitment to fostering a vibrant and active business ecosystem in the country.

In her budget speech, she aslo stated that Startups have emerged as "drivers of growth for India's economy," and the country has experienced a massive surge in successful start-ups in recent years.
