Budget 2023 Live: Aadhaar, DigiLocker To Serve As Foundational Identity, says FM Nirmala Sitharaman

FM Nirmala Sitharaman begins the Union Budget 2023 speech with "This is the first Budget of Amrit Kaal". In her Budget Speech 2023 in parliament, FM Nirmala Sitharaman states that the DigiLocker service will be used to create a one-stop solution for reconciling and updating the identity and address of individuals maintained by various governmental agencies, regulators, and regulated entities, with Aadhaar serving as the primary identity.

She added PAN will serve as the universal digital systems' Common Business Identifier. This is a step toward sharing taxpayer information across departments, which will likely improve tax administration and make it easier for businesses to operate.
