Budget 2023: What Gets Costlier, What Gets Cheaper? Check Full List Here

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, presented the Union Budget 2023 of Narendra Modi-Led government before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. BSE Sensex zoomed 1122 points in afternoon trade at 1:06 pm to 60,672.35 and NSE Nifty jumped 276.3 points to 17,938.

Rupee started on a positive note and surged 12 paise to 81.76 against the US dollar in morning trade on Wednesday. The FM's budget specified things that would get costlier or cheaper. Here is the full list of items set to get expensive or cheaper:

Things That Are Expected To Get Costlier:

• Articles made of gold, platinum, and silver are set to get expensive as Nirmala Sithraman announced raising taxes on items manufactured of dore and bars of gold and platinum
• Prices of copper scrap are expected to get costlier
• Compounded rubber prices will be increased
• Cigarettes prices are set to go higher Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a 16% surge in the customs duty on cigarettes
• The prices of imported electric kitchen chimney expected to go higher as import duty as has been raised from 7.5% to 15%.

Things That Are Set To Get Cheaper:

• Camera lenses for phones, laptops, and DSLRs are set to get cheaper
• Parts of TV Panels' prices will witness a reduction
• Denatured ethyl alcohol will get cheaper
• Lithium ion batteries are set to get less expensive now
• Domestic manufacture of shrimp will get price reduction
• Seeds used in the manufacture of diamonds will get cheaper now
