Budget 2024: Govt Will Provide Rs 1.48 Lakh Cr For Education, Employment And Skilling; FM

The country's employment, education, and skill-building would get Rs 1.48 lakh crore from the Union Budget for 2024-2025. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced during the budget's presentation to the Lok Sabha that the budget will prioritize middle-class, MSMEs, employment opportunities, and skill development.

She added that the government has extended the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for five years which is benefiting 80 crore people of the country. As mentioned in the interim budget, there is a need to focus on poor, women, youth and farmers, the minister said.

Budget 2024 Education

FM further added that people have given a unique opportunity to the Modi government to take India on the path of strong development, and all-round prosperity.

The highest-ever allocation to the Ministry of Education was made in the Union Budget 2023 when the central government set aside Rs 1,12,898.97 crore for the educational sector. About 2.9% of the nation's GDP was allotted to the education and higher education sectors in the budget for the previous year (2023-2024). The Education Ministry's overall budget allocation in the 2024-25 interim budget grew by 6.8% from Rs 1,20,627.87 crore to Rs 1,12,899.47 crore in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
