Bumble Alert: Delhi Man Says Delhi Cafes ‘Hiring Girls’ To Dupe Customers On Discovering Scam Of Rs 15,886

Bumble, a popular dating app has often been in the news, and mostly for the wrong reasons. This time again the online dating platform has become a topic of discussion for a negative reason after a Delhi man said that he was scammed out of more than Rs 15,886 after going out on a date with a woman he met on Bumble.

Sharing his experience on X (earlier Twitter), Archit Gupta revealed how he paid a hefty inflated bill at the Rajouri Garden restaurant where he went to meet a woman for a date. According to Archit Gupta, the restaurant worked in collusion with the woman to lure unwary customers who were then asked to pay a hefty bill that far exceeded the actual value of the items that were ordered.

On November 11, Gupta posted on Twitter, "Fraud Alert: Met a girl on @bumble, went to The Race Lounge & Bar in Rajouri Garden. She ordered drinks and the bill was Rs 15,886. Realised it was a scam. Discovered many people are scammed. @Cyberdost 1930 not working @DelhiPolice please take action." Along with this post, the Delhi man also attached a screenshot of his experience written on a paper narrating the whole incident.

Based on the information shared by Gupta on the social media platform, it comes out that for a Red Bull, a hookah, one shot of vodka, two to three glasses of wine, a plate of chicken tikka, and a bottle of water he was asked to pay a bill of Rs 15,886.

Gupta, 25, said that he met a girl named Divya Sharma (not her real name) on Aifya as her name appeared on Truecaller on Bumble. Gupta said that the girl asked him to meet at a particular restaurant in the Rajouri Garden area of Delhi. Gupta said, "She convinced me that she was looking for something meaningful. She took me to a bar, The Race Lounge and Bar."

He wrote, "I was shocked after seeing the bill. I paid for the bill. They tapped my card four times as there was some issue with their machine."

"Before leaving the place, I went to the washroom, and upon returning, I realized the bill I left on the table was not there;" he added. According to Gupta, the girl insisted him on leaving quickly. It was only when he reached home that Gupta realized he had been scammed.

Further, when he returned home and checked Bumble he realized that the woman had "disappeared" and was not picking up his calls.

Searching on the internet directed Gupta came across a similar scam in a media report. When he read Google reviews of The Race Lounge and Bar he discovered that many other men had been scammed in similar ways.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the only scam that has happened on dating sites. Social media and Reddit forums are full of experiences shared by users who were scammed out of their money after meeting women on dating apps like Bumble and Tinder.

Earlier, in September, a Reddit user wrote a post about how he was scammed by a woman whom he met on Tinder. In this incident also the woman asked the man to meet at a restaurant in Rajouri Garden where he ended up paying a bill amounting to Rs 14,000.
