California Considers New Electric Vehicle Rebates If Trump Administration Eliminates Federal Tax Credit

California might introduce state tax rebates for electric vehicle (EV) purchases if the federal EV tax credit is discontinued by the incoming Trump administration, according to Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom plans to propose a new version of the state's Clean Vehicle Rebate Program, which ended in 2023 after supporting 594,000 vehicles and saving 456 million gallons of fuel.
