The prestigious Cannes Film Festival is going to return with star-studded red carpets as the 79th edition of this legendary festival begins on May 12 in Cannes, France.

Every year, Bollywood & Hollywood stars, along with fashion icons, represent the most diverse appearances at Cannes 2026.

This year, India's participation goes far beyond mainstream Hindi cinema, with Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam film industries also making their presence felt on the global stage.

Cannes Film Festival 2026 Dates And All Details

The 79th Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 12 to May 23, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on the French Riviera.

The festival will open with The Electric Kiss, directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Pierre Salvadori.

Celebrated South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook will serve as the Jury President this year, while French actress Eye Haïdara will host the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Cannes 2026 jury also includes several globally recognised names, including Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Laura Wandel, Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Isaach De Bankolé, Paul Laverty and Stellan Skarsgård. The closing ceremony and Palme d'Or announcement will take place on May 23.

List of Indian Celebrities at Cannes 2026

Among the biggest Indian names attending Cannes 2026 are Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Aditi Rao Hydari, all representing L'Oréal Paris.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been one of the most iconic Indian faces associated with Cannes and has walked the festival's red carpet multiple times in the last 24 years.

Alia Bhatt will return to Cannes for the second consecutive year. Aditi Rao Hydari is also expected to attend as part of the L'Oréal Paris delegation. Along with her, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tara Sutaria, Mouni Roy, Pooja Batra, and Manish Malhotra is also going to walk the Cannes Red Carpet

Several Bollywood celebrities are also expected to attend Cannes 2026 through brand partnerships, film promotions and networking events.

After his recent appearance at the MET Gala, Karan Johar will return to Cannes after attending the premiere of Homebound during the previous edition.

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker will attend Cannes 2026 as part of India's official delegation in his role as director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Influencers At Cannes Film Festival

Over the past few years, influencers, digital creators, entrepreneurs and internet personalities have become one of the biggest talking points at Cannes.

This year, Cannes 2026 is taking that trend to another level as many Indian influencers, fashion creators, entrepreneurs and lifestyle personalities are expected to attend the festival, many through collaborations with Brut India, which has been taking Indian creators to the Cannes red carpet.

Among the names expected at Cannes 2026 are fashion commentator Sufi Motiwala, creator Ishita Mangal, influencer Rida Tharana, actor-creator Disha Madan, beauty creator The Mermaid Scale, dancer Nidhi Kumar, content creators Ishani Mitra and Niranjan Mondol, actress Smriti Khanna, influencer Niharika Jain, celebrity chef Pavitra Kaur and Mrs India 2025-26 Dipali Mathur. International creator Sam Webb and entrepreneurs Sneha Khanal and Bhupendra Khanal, founders of Himalayan pet-care brand Dogsee Chew, are also expected to represent India at the festival.

Punjabi, Marathi, Gujarati And Malayalam Cinema Also Gain Spotlight

India's regional cinema industry is also getting global attention this year. Punjabi cinema superstar, Ammy Virk making his Cannes red carpet debut. The actor will represent his film Chardikala at the global event alongside co-star Roopi Gill.

Veteran Marathi actors Ashok Saraf and Nivedita Saraf, along with actress Prajakta Mali and producer Kedar Joshi, are expected to attend the festival dressed in traditional Marathi attire to represent regional identity on an international platform.
Gujarati cinema's stars Mansi Parekh alongside singer-producer Parthiv Gohil, are also going to attend the event.

Meanwhile, Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram will take his project Balan: The Boy to the Cannes market.

Indian Films To Feature at Cannes Market 2026

Actor-producer Anshuman Jha has also secured market screenings for multiple productions, including Malayalam film Balan: The Boy, bilingual Hindi-Kannada project September 21 and documentary Spirit Of The Wildflower.
