Cameras and speed guns will reportedly be installed on Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway. It is worth mentioning that Karnataka Police has already distributed nearly 155 laser speed guns that included 800 alcometers all over the states to keep an eye on drunk drivers. According to Alok Kumar, ADGP of Traffic and Road Safety, beginning from July 1, the entire Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway shall be equipped with Intelligent Traffic Management System.

The system came into existence in Bengaluru way back in 2022. In ITMS technology, a total of 250 automatic number plate recognition cameras and 80 red light detection cameras have been installed at 50 leading junctions. Beginning from July 1, traffic violators in Mysore will begin receiving challans.

It is important to note that SMS alerts will arrive in real time for not following traffic rules. Alok Kumar told Deccan Herald that a traffic management center has been installed in Mysore. Traffic rule violators will begin to get SMS alerts in real time. Many areas are likely to be tracked with the assistance of cameras. He added, ITMS will be set up on all highways linking Bengaluru. The State Road Transport Authority has given its nod for this proposal. Tenders will be issued by the government in July for this.

Talks are underway on integrating challan system with Fastag. The traffic and road safety wing of the state police reportedly discussed integrating the challan system at toll gates with Fastag. It will permit the fine to be deducted directly from the Fastag wallet. The ADGP is planning to write a letter to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for obtaining its nod.
