Champions Trophy 2025: Bangladesh Vs India, Shubman Gill No.1 In ODI Ranking; How Much Winning Team Will Get?

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The ICC Men's Champions Trophy, previously known as the Knockout Trophy, commenced its ninth edition on February 19, 2025, with New Zealand winning over the hosting country, Pakistan by 60 runs. This Champions Trophy season will end on March 9, 2025. On Thursday, February 20, India will be competing against Bangladesh at 2.30 PM. Ahead of the big match, India right-hander Shubman Gill has claimed the number 1 rank in the Men's ODI Batter ranking list.

As per the ICC Cricket website, a pair of international stars have risen to the top and claimed the No.1 spot on the latest ICC Men's Player Rankings ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

It added, "India right-hander Shubman Gill overtakes former Pakistan captain Babar Azam to become the top-ranked ODI batter in the world, while Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana climbs atop the Men's ODI Bowling Rankings - taking the premier position for the first time by surpassing Afghanistan tweaker Rashid Khan."

According to ICC, it is a major shake-up at the top of the rankings just before the start of the Champions Trophy and leaves an interesting sub-plot to what will transpire over the coming weeks during the eight-team tournament in Pakistan and Dubai.

Notably, Gill has held the number 1 rank for the second time in ODI cricket, with the batsman even surpassing Babar to claim the top spot midway through the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in 2023.

As per the news, Gill has been in excellent form of late, with his century against England in Ahmedabad during the third ODI of the recently concluded series enough to catapult the 25-year-old to the top of the rankings.
