In a significant development ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Central Government has sanctioned a substantial amount of Rs 1,914 crore for allocation to 53,670 beneficiaries across retail, agriculture, and MSME sectors in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. This initiative is part of the Centre's credit outreach program aimed at providing financial support to entrepreneurs and individuals from various segments of society.

Credit Outreach Program Meeting
A meeting under the credit outreach program was held on Wednesday at the Marathwada Sanskrutik Mandal Ground in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city. Union Minister of State of Finance Bhagwat Karad presided over the meeting, where the sanctioning of Rs 1,914 crore was announced. The funds will be distributed among 53,670 beneficiaries in the district, covering retail, agriculture, and MSME sectors.
Implementation and Focus
The credit outreach program is a central plan implemented by various banks to facilitate credit support for entrepreneurs and individuals. Bank of Maharashtra, acting as the convenor of the State-Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), is responsible for implementing the program in the state. Notably, the program specifically focused on clearing pending applications for sanction under the PM Svanidhi scheme in various banks.
PM Svanidhi Scheme
Launched in 2020 by the Central Government, the PM Svanidhi scheme is a special micro-credit facility designed to support street vendors. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to street vendors to help them resume their businesses post-pandemic. On Wednesday, over 5,000 pending applications under the PM Svanidhi scheme were cleared by different banks, as per an official release.
Union Minister's Remarks
Union Minister Bhagwat Karad highlighted the positive impact of the PM Svanidhi scheme on street vendors. He stated that more than 82 lakh beneficiaries across the country have received a total of Rs 10,978 crore under the scheme. In Maharashtra alone, approximately 9.09 lakh beneficiaries have been granted nearly Rs 1,100 crore in Svanidhi loans. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, over 40,000 beneficiaries have benefited from the scheme, receiving a total of Rs 47 crore.
The Central Government's sanction of Rs 1,914 crore to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar beneficiaries under the credit outreach program demonstrates its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and individuals from various sectors. The focus on clearing pending applications under the PM Svanidhi scheme further underscores the government's efforts to empower street vendors and aid their economic recovery. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and contribute to the overall development of the region.
