Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal Offers Chief of Staff Role with Rs 20 Lakh Payment for Charity

In an unexpected job listing, Zomato's CEO Deepinder Goyal announced a unique opportunity for the position of Chief of Staff. Candidates are required to pay Rs 20 lakh for the first year, which will be donated to Feeding India. Additionally, Zomato will donate Rs 50 lakh to a charity chosen by the successful candidate.

Zomatos Unique Chief of Staff Job Offer

Goyal shared on social media platform X that the Chief of Staff role involves contributing to Zomato's future, including Blinkit, District, Hyperpure, and Feeding India. He emphasised that this position offers more learning than a two-year degree from a top management school. However, he noted that it does not come with typical job perks.

Unique Job Offer Details

The salary details for this role are unconventional. Goyal stated, "There is no salary for this role for the first year. You will have to, in fact pay Rs 20 lakh for this opportunity. 100 per cent of this fee will be paid in the form of donation directly to Feeding India if you are offered the role, and you accept it." He clarified that Zomato is not trying to save money; they will donate Rs 50 lakh equivalent to a Chief of Staff salary to a charity chosen by the candidate.

From the second year onwards, Goyal assured that the company would start paying a regular salary exceeding Rs 50 lakh. However, specific salary discussions will only occur at the beginning of the second year. He urged applicants to focus on the learning experience rather than seeking a high-paying job.

Candidate Expectations and Qualities

Goyal described the ideal candidate as someone eager to learn, possessing common sense and empathy but lacking extensive experience or preconceived notions. He seeks individuals who are humble, have excellent communication skills, and maintain a learning mindset. The candidate should prioritise doing what is right even if it means displeasing others.

He further elaborated that candidates should view this opportunity as a learning programme rather than just another job title. Goyal expressed his desire for learners who are genuinely interested in personal and professional growth rather than those merely looking to enhance their resumes.

This distinctive approach highlights Zomato's commitment to nurturing talent while supporting charitable causes. The initiative reflects an innovative way of combining professional development with philanthropy.
