CJP Protest In Delhi: Indian Railways Cancels Mail & Express Trains On October 10; Check All Details

Just a day before a major protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Indian Railways has cancelled Mail and Express train services to and from major Delhi railway stations on Saturday, October 10.

According to railway officials, the cancellations have been ordered because of the likelihood of severe road traffic congestion around the two stations.

Delhi authorities step up security ahead of the CJP's planned October 10 demonstration at Jantar Mantar, where protesters are demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls.

Indian Railways Cancels Trains On October 10

According to the railway order, Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10 will be cancelled.

A senior railway official also told The Indian Express that train services to and from the two stations would remain affected during this 10-hour period.

The official explanation from the Railways is traffic management. However, the timing of the decision has drawn attention because it comes just ahead of the CJP's October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar.

The CJP has called supporters to Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Railway officials, however, have not publicly confirmed that the cancellations were ordered specifically because of the CJP protest.

What Is The CJP Protest About?

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a major protest in Delhi on October 10 in Jantar Mantar. The party is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The CJP had earlier announced that supporters would march to Delhi if Kumar did not step down.

The party also held a major rally at Mumbai's Shivaji Park earlier this month, where it claimed a large turnout.

Delhi Police has denied permission for the CJP's October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar. Police have maintained that although Jantar Mantar is an authorised location for demonstrations, protests are subject to prior permission and prescribed crowd limits.
