Claude Down Today? Users Face Errors As Claude Suffers Fresh Outage; What We Know So Far

On Monday afternoon, thousands of Users across the globe reported an issue while using Claude AI since the platform underwent a service disruption today with errors affecting multiple Claude models.

Users were able to open Claude but were unable to send prompts, receive responses, or use a particular model.

Anthropic's incident updates said it was investigating problems and working for a fix. The company, in its status page, provided an update and said, "We are continuing to work to resolve issues causing elevated requests on multiple models. We will provide an update as soon as possible. We have identified the cause of elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and other Claude models and are working on a fix. We will provide an update as soon as possible. We are investigating elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Opus 4.8. We will provide an update as soon as possible. "

The Claude outage began at around 10:36 AM IST, according to the incident timeline reported by StatusGator, and Anthropic soon identified the cause.

Claude Outage Details

Claude AI was not necessarily down for everyone. As per the reports, some elevated errors and degraded access were reported across multiple models, and it wasn't universal.

According to StatusGator, the August 24 incident was reported as "Elevated errors for multiple models" and put up as a downtime incident.
The reported affected models included Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, Claude Opus 4.8 and Other Claude models.

This is not Claude's first outage in August; the portal experienced seven service incidents in August 2026. Just four days before the latest incident, Anthropic reported elevated errors affecting requests to multiple Claude models. The issue was resolved on the same day.
