Closing Bell: Nifty And Sensex Close In Green, Nifty around 17,150, Sensex Up 140 pts
BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 indexes for Indian equities closed higher on Wednesday following global trends. Shares of financial and IT companies drove the major indices higher. All eyes are on the US Federal Reserve's policy meeting that is scheduled tonight.

The benchmark indices on March 22 increased at the close of the turbulent session. At closing, the Nifty was up 44.40 points or 0.26% at 17,151.90, while the Sensex was up 139.91 points, or 0.24%, at 58,214.59. A total of 1993 shares rose, 1421 shares fell, and 128 shares remained unchanged.
Top Nifty gainers included Tata Consumer Products, HDFC Life Insurance, Bajaj Finance, and Bajaj Finserv, while top losers included BPCL, Coal India, NTPC, Adani Ports, and Axis Bank.
The pharmaceutical index increased by 1%, and the PSU Bank index increased by 0.8 % on a sectoral level. While the smallcap index increased 0.5%, the BSE midcap index finished unchanged.
