CNG Prices Hiked In Delhi-NCR From November 23; Check Revised CNG Rates In Indian Cities Here

Indraprastha Gas (IGL) has reportedly hiked prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad by Re 1 per kg, with effect from Thursday morning. According to reports, the new rates will be effective from Thursday, November 23.

Reportedly, in the national capital Delhi, the price of CNG has been revised from Rs 74.59 per kg to Rs 75.59 per kg. In Noida, CNG price has been revised to Rs 81.20 per kg, and in Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Hapur, the CNG rate has been revised to Rs 80.20 per kg.

However, in Rewari, CNG prices have been slashed to Rs 81.20 per kg from Rs 82.20.

Any rise in clean gas prices usually impacts other sectors as well, including transportation and daily commodities.

Earlier this year, the union government adopted a new gas pricing formula and levied cap or ceiling price to help cut CNG and piped cooking gas prices by up to 10%. The decision was taken after CNG and PNG prices jumped nearly 80% in one year to August last year due to an increase in global energy prices.

As per the new formula, natural gas produced from legacy or old fields, called APM gas, will now be indexed to the price of imported crude oil rather than benchmarking it to gas prices in energy surplus countries including the US, Canada, and Russia.

Cab service providers, including Ola and Uber, are expected to adjust their pricing structures in order to accommodate the increased costs associated with clean gas. This adjustment in fares could translate into expensive cab rides for passengers who depend on ride-sharing services to commute daily.

Meanwhile, the latest CNG price hike could also increase operational costs for auto-rickshaws and commuters may have to pay increased auto-rickshaw fares going ahead.
