The Homi Adajania directorial began its theatrical journey with a collection of Rs 13.50 crore nett on Friday. The film recorded healthy growth on Saturday, earning Rs 16.25 crore nett, before reaching its highest single-day total of the weekend with Rs 17.75 crore nett on Sunday.

The upward trend is considered a positive sign, especially for a romantic drama that depends heavily on metropolitan centres, premium multiplex screens and strong audience recommendations. The film's ability to increase collections every day suggests that curiosity around the sequel and its star cast remained intact throughout the weekend.

Audience response improved significantly on Sunday, particularly during the afternoon and evening shows. The film started the day with around 15.15% occupancy in morning shows, which climbed to 40.15% in the afternoon and touched a high of 47.77% during evening shows. Night shows maintained a healthy 31.38% occupancy, taking the overall Hindi occupancy for Sunday to 33.62%.

The film was screened across 10,462 shows on Sunday, compared with 10,835 shows on Friday and 10,245 shows on Saturday, indicating strong exhibitor confidence during its crucial opening weekend.

The latest installment has benefited from the popularity of the original 2012 film Cocktail, which became a favourite among urban audiences for its modern take on relationships, memorable characters and successful music album. The new film has attempted to recreate a similar youthful and stylish romantic space with a fresh storyline and a new cast.

The combination of Shahid Kapoor's urban fan base, Kriti Sanon's popularity in mainstream Hindi cinema and Rashmika Mandanna's pan-India appeal helped the film generate substantial pre-release buzz. Its performance in overseas markets has also contributed significantly to its worldwide total, with foreign territories adding around Rs 19.25 crore gross by the end of the first weekend.

Despite a strong start, the film's real test will begin on Monday when weekday collections reveal the strength of its audience acceptance. Romantic dramas often witness a sharper drop after the weekend compared with mass entertainers, making weekday stability crucial for a successful theatrical run.
