Congress Punjab Chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring Advocates for All-Party Consensus on Special Economic Package

Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the Congress Punjab chief, has called for a united effort to secure a special financial package from the Centre to boost Punjab's economy. He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to actively engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this matter. Warring emphasised the need for all political parties to join forces to advocate for a bailout package for Punjab.

Warring Advocates for Special Economic Package

Warring expressed his party's readiness to support and collaborate in obtaining this special package, highlighting the state's urgent need. He shared concerns from industry leaders who reported difficulties in sustaining operations in Punjab under current conditions. "Punjab's debt is mounting every year," he noted, urging an end to blame games and advocating for collective action.

Economic Challenges and Consequences

The Ludhiana MP warned of the dire consequences of a failing economy, including widespread unemployment and potential law-and-order issues. He stressed that while reviving the economy is primarily the government's responsibility, its failure would impact everyone. Warring also linked the success of the state's anti-drug campaign to economic recovery.

Recently, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa also sought a package from the Centre aimed at developing Punjab's six border districts: Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and Amritsar. Bajwa advocated for a strong economic stimulus package to ensure long-term stability and growth in these areas.

Warring's appeal comes amid growing concerns about Punjab's economic health. He believes that addressing these issues requires a collaborative approach from all political factions. The focus should be on saving the state's economy rather than engaging in political blame games.

He reiterated that without economic revival, efforts like the anti-drug campaign would be ineffective. The call for unity among political parties aims to present a consolidated front to the Centre, emphasising the urgency of financial intervention for Punjab's economic stability.

The push for a special package reflects broader concerns about sustaining industries and livelihoods in Punjab. By seeking consensus among political leaders, Warring hopes to strengthen their case when approaching the Centre for assistance.

Ultimately, Warring's initiative underscores the critical need for financial support to prevent further economic decline in Punjab. His call for cooperation highlights the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in addressing these pressing challenges.
